Lots of exciting things are happening here at the Foote Homestead. First, Kacie has her drivers permit - way to go Kacie!!!!!! (We had to wait 4 hours at the DPS place, but we finally got through the line and she scored super on her test!) She is nervous to drive, but is doing very well.
Allan made first chair trombone. He is happy and very much aware that everyone is trying to take his chair away from him now.
The San Antonio area is trying to get as many members as they can to list a profile on Mormon.org Jeff and I both have our profiles approved and you can search for us by name - search Jeff in San Antonio TX or Jodi the same way. Kacie and Elena are working on theirs too.
The San Antonio Express News came and took pictures and interviewed the youth during their mutual activity last night. They had a lot of fun and I think the reporters were pleased with the information they received. This morning the reporters went to another ward's seminary and were amazed by what they learned and felt.
Anyway, it is exciting to be here in San Antonio with the work going on to spot light the church here in this area and others. Great missionary opportunities!!!!!
Last night was wild. At 2 a.m., the horn on my van went off and it was just blaring. We battled with it for about 10-15 minutes. At 3:30 it went off again - just randomly decided to wake the whole neighborhood. Finally we got it stopped but Jeff wasn't going to take another awakening so he got in the car and drove it away. He ended up sitting in the Wal Mart parking lot waiting until 7 so that we could put it in the shop and get the horn fixed. Only things like this happens to us. Turns out, the horn is connected to the airbag and so the mechanic disconnected the horn, and installed a button for us to push for when we need a horn. It is one thing to get up in the night with kids to love and tend to their needs, it is another thing to get up and babysit a van with a misbehaved horn.

I'm back
It has been a long summer and one I'll never forget. I have had rock bottom, dreadful lows and unbelievable spiritual highs that have brought the sweetest joys in my life. How can two opposites exist together???? It's called life.
My summer began with Allan and helping out at his 11 yr. old scout camp. Then I was privileged to help transport youth during youth conference. My dad began to struggle more with his cancer and I went to be with him and my mom for a few weeks. I then spent an amazing week with the young women in our stake at girls camp only to find myself returning back to be with my parents. Kelli and Jeff came down to be a part of a big celebration with my dad as he turned 77. Elena and Kacie attended E.F.Y and then we took a two week trip to Utah. Upon our return, I went back to my parents and was able to be by my dad's side as he passed on to go and begin his new adventures back in Heaven.
The sorrow and sadness of loosing my dad puts a big hole in my heart. I will miss him tremendously. Having had the privilege of caring for him side by side with my mother, brings the greatest joy and sweetest feeling of love that I will always cherish and cling too.
My summer has been full. Lots of activities that have helped to strengthen my children's belief in Jesus Christ. We have been able to see the full circle of Heavenly Father's plan for us from birth to death. I am so grateful for a loving family - for my children and my wonderful husband, for my parents, for brothers and sisters, for extended family members aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces who help to strengthen and build ties of unity during hard times like these.

Last Day of School
Yahoo!!! Everyone has successfully completed another year of school
Allan had his 5th grade award assembly and was honored with having all A/B honor roll all year, patrols, E in conduct all year, assistant to the assistant principal, and robotics. Awards were over with at 9:30 and the principal welcomed us to take our kids home if we wanted. So without hesitation, I took Allan and Darin out early Ü We went swimming and are all sunburned now.
Elena passed all her TAKS test and has no more test for her Senior year. Kacie is sooooo happy to be done with Biology!!!!
We went to Ryan Chapman's Eagle Court of Honor tonight and then Elena and Kacie invited a group of friends over to play night games.
It has been a fun day!

Memorial Day
It was a good Memorial Day. We invited the Riding family for lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Foote. I made a salad for me - broccoli/pea, one for Jeff - carrot/raisin, and an orange/marshmallow salad for the kids Ü
We enjoyed grilling hamburgers & hotdogs on Jeff's new grill - yum, yum!!
The kids are back in school for 3 more days!!! Allan is portraying John F. Kennedy in a come alive living history event today. Aimee and I went to see him and he did a fantastic job. Elena and Kacie are taking finals and Darin took a board game, Guess Who, to play today.

Darin shared with us his interesting philosophy about eating and being full. Your stomach has two sides. The everyday food side and the dessert side. Just because the everyday food side is so full and you can't eat another bite, the dessert side can still be empty. Ü
For Jeff's birthday, we enjoyed fajittas and apple pie al la mode and then he was off for the rest of the night interviewing bishops.
Elena is doing great with her leg. She is now getting around without her crutch and life is oh so sweet for her now.
Allan has his 5th grade pool party today. He informed me that it wouldn't hurt his feeling if I didn't make it to the pool party. I asked him to be honest with me if he really wanted me to come and he responded, "If I told the truth would it hurt your feelings?" I reasured him it wouldn't and so he said, "no". I had to smile and I appreciated his thoughtfullness to not offend me.

A Big Surprise
Monday a package came in the mail for me. It was from Amazon addressed to me. I called Jeff because I knew he had purchased something and wondering if he knew what the package could be. He totally surprised me and sent me a Kindle for my birthday!!!!! A Kindle is basically an electronic book. I can download just about any book I want and have it stored on my Kindle. I am so excited to have it. My first book is vol. 8 of the Prelude to Glory books. Ü
Today we took Grandpa and Grandma Foote to The Cheesecake Factory in celebration of Grandpa's and Jeff's birthdays. It was way yummy again. This time I shared a strawberry cheesecake with Aimee.
I'm getting ready to take Jeff out to shop for his present (a grill) and while we're gone, Elena & Kacie will get the house ready for a big surprise party for Jeff's birthday. He has bishop interviews tomorrow so we're going to celebrate tonight.

New Experience
It has been a good Sunday. I was asked to lead the music in sacrament meeting today. That was a first time experience for me. They were desperate to have someone. My knees were shaking and I thought to myself, this is ridiculous. I can lead music there is no need to be nervous. Ü
I have extended an invitation to all my family members to follow along with our blog. I hope it will be rewarding to those who follow and help to keep our families closer together as we are expanding. I am so grateful for all of my family both mine and Jeff's. We have so much to offer one another and I hope this will help strengthen the ties that bind us together.

Broadway Bank Picnic
Broadway Bank had their annual family picnic and this year it was at the San Antonio Zoo. It is fun to see the animals and I am always amazed at Heavenly Father's creations. I think He had fun and used a little bit of a sense of humor when it came around to creating some of the animals. I love his use of colors and designs especially in the birds. The Okapi is an animal that is a cross between a giraffe, zebra. This is a rare animal and our zoo is lucky to have one
As always the big hit for any bank picnic is the food. We enjoyed yummy hamburgers, hotdogs, potatoe salads, chips, soda and the favorite - ice cream.
