3 Cheesecakes

Jeff and I had a wonderful dinner last night. We went to Cheesecake Factory. We split a salad and a dinner which was really yummy. Rob would be proud of us because we went with the Thia lettuce wraps. They were so good. Then we got dessert. Now get this Jeff has been waiting for this day and ordered 3 cheesecakes. One for me and two for him.Ü We came out with a smile on our faces but very full stomachs I went for the peanut butter cup and butterfingers cheesecake. Jeff had the caramel dutch apple crisp and pina colada cheesecakes. (those aren't exactly the right names, but it's close enough to the descriptions) The winner was the caramel dutch apple crisp cheesecake!

Today for my birthday we went to lunch at Genghis Grill. That was really good too. For my present to myself I pruned all the bushes in the front yard and gave it a good mowing. When I was finished I had 12 bags of limbs & leaves all bagged up. My front lawn looks good. Allan wants to learn how to mow so I'm saving the backyard for when he gets home. Ü

Elena's made me a great cake and the kids gave me a pin and told me I had to wear all day that says #1 Mom. So in honor of them I'm wearing it Ü

We've Made it to the Top - We're GRANDPARENTS!!!!

Jared & Julianna blessed our family with the birth of Thomas Jared Foote. Born April 21, 2011 weighing in at 7lbs. 4 oz., and 19 inches long. He is most adorable and loved by so many. Julianna had to work hard, but she did amazing in getting Thomas here.

Jeff and I were able to go see him over Mother's day weekend. What a treat it was to be able to hold Thomas and give him lots of hugs and kisses. We were also able to be there when he was given a name and blessing. It was great being there.

Babies can bring such joy and love and it is wonderful to see Jared and Julianna step into the next and most exciting stage of life - parenthood. They are both natural at it and will be awesome. Thomas will have fun getting to know all of his aunts and uncles.

Now, where are my pictures you may ask???? I am at war with my computer and the down loading of my camera. I promise you will see them - patience is what we are practicing for the moment Ü (Don't mess with Grandma when she is downloading)

So much has happened so let me get to the events of life:

♥ Along with seeing Thomas, we loved spending time with Kelli, Rob, and Brian. All of my college boys own bikes now and they are enjoying the fun and fitness of biking. Brian was so excited to have the first opportunity to ride a bike with a suit. To make the occasion more memorable the weather decided to add rain to his fun. (He never rode a bike on his mission)

♥ Jared got his (MCAT) scores back and did really well. He has applied to the Texas medical schools along with some others. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Ü

♥ Rob and Kelli have moved into the attic of the Burg's Mortuary. They are having lots of fun and are blessed to have many friends who are willing to "house sit" for them on occasion when they need to leave the house in the evenings or on weekends. Rob is studying hard and will be taking his medical dental tests (DAT) soon. We are keeping our fingers crossed for he and Kelli to come here for dental school. Ü

♥ Elena is recovering from knee surgery. Her doctor told us after her surgery that he can understand now why she was in so much pain. Her meniscus was all torn up and he had to remove part of it. She is able to move her knee now, but walking on it will take some time. To cheer her up, we allowed her to dress up in her pretty prom dress and her dad took her to Mormon Prom for a few hours. She really enjoyed that - again pictures will come Ü

♥ Kacie's Pop show for choir is this weekend. She is singing and dancing in a couple of songs. Her favorite one it the song - I'm Going to the Chapel and I'm going to get Married. (She and her friends like to change the words and sing - I'm going to the Temple and I'm going to be sealed)

♥ Allan is happy with having so many friends. The Lambs have moved into our neighborhood having a son and daughter close to his age. He has lots friends from school and never has a dole moment. His challenge is balancing playing with all of these great boys he's gotten to know over the year.

♥ Darin has also discovered friends and is beginning to socialize a little bit more too. He lost one of his front teeth and soon will have the other out. He is so happy that school is almost out. He has done great in school and will be getting straight A's for the school year Ü

♥ Aimee is so excited to be an Aunt. She loves her baby Tommy as she calls him. She loves watching all the Rugrats and Carebear shows on Netflex. She is getting so tall and is such a great helper at home.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. I am also so grateful for my awesome husband. I love him with all my heart. Today we celebrate 26 years of wonderful married life together. I called him at 11:30 and reminded him that 26 years ago I said "yes" and he became mine forever and always. We laughed and then both were off - Jeff to a lunch with a group of people from work and I went off to a lunch with a dear group of friends. Tonight we'll go out together for an enjoyable evening. Ü

I had a mom moment that I did not handle very well.

You would think that after raising 5 eleven year olds, I would have things mastered by the time the 6th eleven year old came along -- WRONG! It only goes to show that each child is different and the circumstances just keeps me humbled and repenting all over again.

There is a standing curse in our family. Whenever mom mops the floor, someone is bound to spill something. Usually when the spill comes we laugh and tease that person that they had the curse and then we quickly clean it up and nobody has hurt feelings.

Well Monday I cleaned and "steamed" the floor with my new toy - a shark floor steamer. I love it and my floor looked so good. I guess steaming the floor wasn't the same workout as mopping so I forgot about the Foote family curse.

Allan decided he needed something from the top shelf in the pantry. Upon his climbing the shelves, he knocked over two jars of spaghetti sauce which splattered everywhere. I mean everywhere - from the floor to the ceiling!

I was busy in the kitchen getting cookies out of the oven wanting them to be perfect because the Sister Missionaries were coming for dinner. Allan is standing in the doorway of the pantry and very calmly says something to the effect, "hey mom, there is picante sauce spilling all over the floor." I looked at him and then the pantry and I gave way to my first impulse and yelled.

I got Allan a bucket to help clean and he would walk in the sauce and then walk across the kitchen floor making things worse. Then I gave him a box and told him to throw it away but to be careful and put the "sauce"end of the box down in the trash so that the sauce wouldn't smear more. He took it and turned it upside down and plop, plop more blobs of sauce spilled across the floor as he walked.

I wish I had instant rewind and could change my reaction. I told Allan at one point that he just didn't have any brains. That was a big mistake! Allan was mad now and not appreciative of me at all. Many thoughts ran through my mind during my seizure and I did remember to pray for help and I was able to get control of my emotions and we finally got through the clean up.

I remembered that he is only eleven and he handles disasters in a much different way than any of my other kids. I remembered Jared telling me once, "Mom if you were to look in the mirror right now, you would not like what you see." or the time he informed me that when I'm mad I spit.

I also remembered that the examples of parents rub off and so I must be even more patient as my kids scream and shout over their own frustrations.

I was able to apologize to Allan and tell him how sorry I was for my reaction and that I would try to do better. He listened and didn't seem to be too upset with me.

We got the pantry cleaned and the Lord decided I needed to be tried one more time. I had to deal with a child not doing their class assignments thus resulting in a failing grade for the class. 6 assignments not done. The response from this child was, "I just didn't do them". The child was sent to their room to do the assignments. I was taking a quick breath trying to decide the best way to handle this. I did not want a repeat of me going into a crazy mom frenzy.

To my delight, it was Allan who approached me to council me. "Mom," he said, "it does no good to yell and get mad. That only makes things worse. Just talk calmly and you will do better." Another child spoke up and informed me that letting them know how disappointed I was would make more of an impact than yelling.

I smiled and gave a quick thanks to Heavenly Father for wise children. It really takes a family to raise a family sometimes.

My kids know I'm not perfect. And we've had a good family council and discussed that when mom looses it like she did, not for them to be afraid but to understand that she is just getting her "steam" out and then all will be well. Ü I have learned that I still need lots of patience. It is a lifetime work in progress. I am very thankful for repentance!!!!!

WE HAD SNOW THIS MORNING!!!

It was a treat for my children to wake up this morning with a dusting of snow on the ground. They were up and playing in it by 6:30 this morning. Ü

My kids and the teenage neighbors beside us along with there friends enjoyed having a snowball fight over the fence. Allan pulled the tramp close by the fence so they could get a good shot. I think our neighbor who is about 18 and his friends had just a much fun as my 11 year old and his friends.

School was cancled due to ice on the roads in fact all the highways in town were closed down. Jeff went into work around 10 when the roads were a little better. It is was fun to see everything in white - so beautiful! Now that it is coming to the end of the day, you can still see evidence of snow in the places where there is a lot of shade.

Today is my mom's birthday!! Happy Birthday Mom, I love you!!!! I am so grateful to have such a wonderful mom in my life - I am who I am because of her. She is such an angel and a giving person to all.

Yesterday, I took Aimee and Darin to the doctor and they both have the flu. The tamiflu medicine they have taste terrible!!!! Poor kids are in tears when it is time to take it, so I bribe them with soda pop and donuts.

Well, the weekend is here and Stake Conference is this weekend. I love conference time and the spiritual boost it gives me I also enjoy seeing so many friends from the stake too.

I pray all is well with all my kids and they know how much they are loved Ü

It has been a good week with some highs and lows.

First off the highs -- We celebrated Aimee's 5th birthday. She had a great time. She and two of her friends went to the park and had a great picnic and lots of fun playing on all the new awesome play equipment they recently installed at the park.

The weather has been great and I was able to get a lot of the yard work done that desperately needed attention.

I get to buy me a new microwave Ü

The lows -- Elena & Allan decided to take a few days of sick leave from school - good news they are better now and made it back to school in time to get lots of make up work to do for the weekend. Then my poor Darin decided he needed a turn of extra sleep and found himself sick during the week end. He's home today again with me breaking his perfect attendance. :o(

My microwave decided to quit working thus the need for a new one.

A young sister I visit teach passed away last weekend and her funeral was held Wed. It is sad to see a young girl waste her life away due to the terrible addiction of alcohol. She was in denial about her addiction and the doctors had warned her that she'd loose her life if she didn't stop. The good news is that she was really trying to get active with church and trying hard to do the right things. The monster of alcohol was just too big for her and now she is in a better place and will soon be free of that addiction and her progression will continue in the gospel.

This week begins a new month Ü and new opportunities to serve and share the gospel. I'm grateful for the many blessing I have and I find great joy in serving others.

Lots of love to my family and friends,
Jodi, Mom and Grandma (soon to be Ü)

With humbleness I come back and update my blog.

I'm so sorry for a 5 month delay, but look on the bright side, I'm trying to blog once again Ü

For my kids far away, I want them to know how much we love them and how proud we are of their accomplishments.

Jared and Julianna are expecting our first grandchild - a little boy, to which we are thrilled about and Julianna graduated in Dec. - WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!

We so much enjoyed having Kelli, Rob and Brian home for the holidays. They along with Jared are all busy back in school at BYU and busy with their studies and jobs.

Elena, Kacie, Allan and Darin finished up their 1st semester with school and are glad to begin this 2nd semester with the excitement that school is half way through.

Aimee graduated from speech!!!! We celebrated with a donut and a balloon from H.E.B.

Jeff stays busy with his work at Broadway Bank and his service to the Hill Country Stake. Today was the first ward conference in Kerrville. I was able to go with him and had a great time. I so much enjoy getting to know the members throughout the stake. It is an extra treat to go to Kerrville because they put on a wonderful pot luck dinner after the meetings. Ü

Jeff also had an unique opportunity to dedicate the new stake center. It has been three years since the San Antonio Hill Country Stake was created and to have a stake center now is such a great blessing.

I am busy, busy, busy getting ready for girls camp this year. I have been working on camp songs and having a blast with it! My YCL leaders are all called and they too are busy at work getting ready for this year. I am soooooo blessed to have a wonderful camp assistant to help me and keep me on task. There is a sweetness in service when you share a love and admiration for wonderful sisters in the gospel.

Along with girls camp, I have been asked to teach a workshop for our Relief Society Conference in Feb. Talk about being out of my comfort zone!!! I'll just have to pretend we are gathered around a campfire and then I'll be comfortable.

I love the gospel! I love my children and I love my dear wonderful husband!!

MAY, JUNE, JULY - WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE MONTHS!?!?!

Oh my, summer is almost gone and my poor blog needs some attention.

Kelli and Rob are happily married living far, far, far, way too far away. I miss my little girl, but I know she is a beautiful bride and is as happy as can be with Rob by her side.

Girls camp was just about as good as it can get. Everyone did their part and the spirit at camp was so awesome. Bugs - we love our bugs!!!!!!

Elena's knee surgery went really well. She ended up having her acl replaced as well. Her doctor was so impressed by how well she was doing 2 weeks after surgery that he gave her permission to go to camp. That was a real blessing for all of us.

Kacie and Elena just got back from a wonderful week at EFY. They had such a great time and met lots of great people. Their session was small but awesome.

Allan, Darin, Aimee and I have enjoyed bowling, swimming and going to Six Flags.

Brian has worked, worked, worked and then worked some more. Monday is his last day with Home Depot here in San Antonio. He and his dad are driving up to Utah on the 13th of this month and then he too will be far, far, far, way too far away from home. He will switch from working to studying come fall semester at BYU. His job at Home Depot will transfer up to Provo. He is pretty excited for that.

It's April!!!

The biggest news to announce is the engagement of our daughter Kelli to Rob (Robert) Lindeman.

Jeff and I had a wonderful weekend up in Utah during General Conference and had the opportunity to meet Rob. He is a great guy and we had a lot of fun getting to know him and his family.

I had no idea that at the end of girls camp last July I would have two weddings in a 6 months period. Oh how blessed I am!!!

Kelli and Rob are planning on being married in the San Antonio Temple June 26, 2010. We have been blessed with little miracles such as finding a beautiful wedding dress in one day.

The kids are all getting used to the idea of Kelli getting married. In fact, they are all in favor of it now - yes, that includes Allan too.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

It's March already. Happy Birthday to my Sister Wendy and Brother Robert. I love you both so much and hope your birthdays are filled with joy and wonderful memories.

I'm going to give you a run down of the family. I promise not to do this all the time, but it's fun to think of each of them one by one and the great things they are doing.

I am keeping very busy with being a mom and preparing things for girls camp this year. My kids have been great at stepping up to help and I am so proud of them.

Jeff enjoyed participating in a bowl-a-thon a few weeks ago and stays busy with work and his calling. He's a great dad and loves to visit with the kids and tease them or give lots of advice and council with them.

Aimee has discovered that she likes to play games on the computer and so the competition continues as to who gets to be on and for how long.

Darin was asked a few weeks ago to give the blessing on the food. He didn't want to, but with a lot of insistence from his dad he finally decided to do it. So, he then proceeds with his blessing and asks that the food will not be poisonous.

Allan had his writing TAKS test last week. He finished around 2:30 and is glad that it's all behind him. He's helping Elena meet some goals so that they both can get a gerbil.

Kacie is enjoying playing basketball with the young women. She is really good at defense and is developing some good basketball skills.

Elena loves driving the car. She can't wait to be 16 so that mom doesn't have to be in the car with her.

Brian is searching for a job, being the handyman at home, entertaining his younger brothers and sisters, getting caught up on NCIS, attending institute and hanging out with friends. He is ready to go off to school and make something more of his life.

Kelli is doing great at school and has mastered the art of driving a standard!!!!!

Jared and Julianna are doing great and we love and miss them soooooo much. The have a bed frame for their bed, found the lost keys, enjoy being together, and just seem to be doing everything right in life.

Here it is - our family picture Ü

It was a joy going to Utah and being with Jared & Julianna and Kelli. We had a blast being together and reuniting brothers after 4 long but awesome years.

We had so much fun visiting Wendy & Brent and their family and enjoyed the kindness and hospitality of Frank and Marianne Dittmar.

Tubing/sledding was the highlight of the trip. We enjoyed Soldier Hollow as well as Jolly Ranch.

Jared & Julianna have a wonderful little home and it was great being with them and watching how happy they are and the great love they share together.

Brian survived the closeness of traveling for four days with his younger brothers and sisters and I think is cured of any hesitancy or anxiety of being around family again.

Kelli is doing good at having no choice to learn to drive a standard. She is grateful for a car and slowly but surely building confidence as she drives.

Elena, Kacie, Allan, Darin & Aimee built awesome memories as we had fun and enjoyed the new adventures that each day of our trip brought.

We are as happy as can be, Brian is home and oh how sweet it is!!

Hugs and kisses were passed around as we were finally able to physically touch Brian. However, Darin, being a little nervous, decided to kick Brian in the leg instead of the usual hug he should of given. Brian's look of shock quickly turned to a grin as he gently kicked him back to return the affection of love.

Brian came home Wednesday night and then reported his mission to the High Council on Thursday and then Sunday gave a great talk in church sharing his experiences on his mission. It's been a busy and full week, but a great one for all.
HERE COMES BRIAN!!!
Brian's HERE!!!

Allan and Kacie having some fun while waiting for Brian

Waiting patiently for Brian

Here's what happens when one tries to throw a football through an open window - Oops, it hits the closed side!!!!!

THE MISSING SHOE
(Funny story of the week)

After returning home from a movie with friends, Elena had literally 2 minutes before her ride to the stake dance showed up. She grab her shoes and was off for the night. The dance ended and she was searching for her shoes. She had two left foot shoes and so a search party went out to find the correct matches. An announcement was made that if someone out there had two "right" foot shoes, to come and make an exchange for the correct right and left shoe combination. No one claimed to have any of the same foot shoes. To Elena's sadness, she ended up coming home with two shoes for the same foot.

This morning as we were getting ready for church, Kacie solved the mystery. She and Elena both have the same shoes and it was Elena who took two left shoes to the dance. Poor Elena didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that she was wearing two left shoes for the first hour or so of the dance last night.

We look forward to the wonderful adventures in
